High Altitude vs Carb Jets
« on: March 29, 2013, 11:20:01 PM »
i currently have my bike in rancho cucamonga (1,400 ft) and i live in the high desert (3,000-3,500 ft) and i want to be able to ride my bike to school in the high desert but i also want to ride it in rancho cucamonga and possibley long beach. Which carb jet sizes should i use for pods and carpy 4 into 1 and i might get the stock airbox for it not shure yet. What do you guys recommend on get sizes for a 75 cb550 with the press in jets?

You will not have to worry that much about that altitude change .
Just a mixture adjustment possibly, thats all.

I was a Honda dealer mechanic in Tucson and bike would go from the desert floor to Mt. Lemon which was 8,000FT. It was only at that last couple of miles at the top of the mountain that the bike would act up from a mixture that was too rich.

In general with pods and after market exhaust you will need to lower the clip on the slide needle one notch and increase the main jet size.
A step up in the idle jet size also.

Hey, 550Z, you don't need to re-jet for Victimville. ;)
You might think about joining the Relay, as it will be coming very near you soon. ;D (see the pinned notice at the top of this board)
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

The notice is the third entry down from the top of the page: Godzilla V3.0 sign up list. We are looking to see the lizard in SoCal around the middle of May. There is a proposed meet-up at Rosamond.
For a bit of history about the relay, read here:
