Hi, folks! I remember seeing my first 750 in 1969 in Japan. The sound was stunning! The looks were so otherworldly compared to other bikes. By '71 I temporarily quit riding other brands so I could buy a CB750 of my own. It was a gold '71. I rode it '76, about 20,000 miles a year. It never gave trouble, other than being a spark plug eater. I sold it to get married to my wife of 36 years, a wise move! I rode other brands until about 1985 or so, when I purchased my mint condition Rickman CR750. I have it still. Because it is so beautiful, I can't sell it, but because it sucks so bad in the comfort area, I rarely ride it. It is in a controlled environment, so looks as good as the day i first got almost 30 years ago. It even has the original tires on it. The previous owner stated he put probably 50 miles on it while he had it. I also have one sorry looking stock '71, two period bobbers (one with good Invader wheels) that are nice survivors, and one unknown rigid frame roller that I will build to replicate my early '70's AMEN chopper. I will then be able to relive my mis-spent youth! A fairly recent bonus junk score for me was finding a nice Drouin supercharger setup, complete, from the original owner. I also got a Mikuni carb and manifold he made to replace the fuel injection (which is still in the box of stuff), an unknown to me, but cool, 4-1 exhaust, the 16" rear wheel he used, and extra sprockets of various sizes. I figured I'd better grab it at $600, with no dickering. Now to figure out which bike to put it on..... Another odd piece of junk for a CB750 is an original 1st generation Vetter Phantom fairing. It's my second one, I don't know if I'll use it or not. I think they look kinda cool, and makes decent wall art if nothing else. All I need now is a nice original paint bike and I'll be satisfied. Although "sandcast, saaandcaaast" does go through my mind now and then. HA!
Later,
