Have you tried swapping the spark plugs themselves around? You could have dud plugs on 2 & 4??
1+ If you switch the 1&4 wires at the coil, and still have no spark on 4, but have spark on 1, that proves both sides of the 1-4 coil and the Dyna are OK. Check the 2&4 plugs for heavy fouling, or no spark plug gap.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Maybe it's time you declare the unit defective and ask for a replacement. You may be beating a dead horse.

If he's getting a spark from his #1 and #3 plugs Bobby, that means that both Dyna pickups are working, but somehow he's only getting spark from one plug wire in each coil. That's possibly the weirdest thing I've ever heard, and it supports Mick's theory that most Dyna "problems" are a result of owner installation. I think he should take it to a shop and get someone who knows what he's doing to take a look. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I changed back to points and still had the same problem.

I swapped the plugs as was suggested and cylinders switched.  They didn't really look fouled to me but the 2 that had fire originally did look cleaner than the ones that didn't.
I took all 4 out and hit them really good with a wire brush and like magic I had fire on all 4.

I feel like a real moron over this.

It still won't start but I suspect it's from not running the carbs out of gas back in November when I put it away.
I'm going to reinstall the Dyna ignition, clean up my wiring mess, mount the tank again and then try to figure out the carb situation.

Thanks to everyone for helping me.

Now it does make some sense. If I may make a suggestion, clean the carbs first. Really claen them. The rest of the work is easy. Cleaning carbs takes time and attention to detail and it is the next thing to drive you crazy.

Were you trying to start the bike with the old gas from November still in the carbs? If so, that may have been the start of your problem. Empty any old gas out of the tank, put fresh gas in the tank, then open the drains on the float bowls, and flush the old gas out of the bowls.
BTW, you still have to find and fix the large voltage drop you reported going to the coils, or your charging system will not work properly.

Hi Radgto,

Did you ever figure this out? I have exactly the same issue with my CB750F and have new coils leads plugs, new wire harness, new fuse box and 2 electonic ignitions test the same, a Dyna S and an Accent with the same result...very strange.

I am wondering if it is a loss of power to the cils somewhere?
