Mixing Years
« on: April 02, 2013, 03:47:48 AM »
-   Good morning everyone. I had a question and thought this might be one of the better places to ask it. I have a 1983 CB 750 SC that I need parts for. The tank and rear faring were stolen while sitting in the back of my car a few months ago and I am looking to replace them. The motor on my bike is in excellent condition. I had it rebuilt in the Fall/Winter of 09 while I was in Iraq. The shop did a complete disassemble and reassemble, the shaved the heads, polished the cylinder walls and lots of other things to it to make it run like new. Therefore, i really don't want to just get rid of this thing over a couple of parts. I saw a guy selling parts for a 1982 Honda CB 750 on eBay; will these parts fit my bike? Also I have seen lots of CB 650 parts on eBay and I was wondering if they would fit as well. Thanks.

Is that the Nighthawk model ? Parts look pretty specific to it. Don't think that model had a real long run.   PS-Hope that builder didn't 'polish' those cylinders too much  :) A hone would be better.

I dunno. You've got a double overhead camshaft model there.

Most of us here deal exclusively with the earlier models.

Perhaps some will come along that knows the later stuff

Thanks for the updates. The bike is a 83 CB 750sc Nighthawk yea. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what all they did while it was in the shop. they had it for 3 months, I know that. It made sense when I was looking at the final tally. Maybe they did polish the heads and they honed the cylinders?? I had it all done while I was deployed and it made the bike run like brand new. That's why I'm really hoping to get some parts for it and get it back on the road. It's kind of depressing seeing this thing sit in pieces in my garage knowing how fun it is to ride.

I was kidding you on the description. There is another section on the board called other bikes where this post will be moved to eventually. As mentioned most of the folks here are mostly into 750's 1978 or older with the single overhead cams. Hopefully though someone has what you need laying around or knows where to get some.
