David, i have no idea what you are talking about, I contacted Sam for the OP to see if he could get Jim to respond, i think you misread or read something into my post that wasn't there. I'm well aware of what both Jim does and what the OP wanted.....  Maybe reading the whole thread would help..... :o  It looks like Jim didn't read the whole thread either because i think he is talking about replacement carbs, not repairing the post...

I did want to repair the post but i didnt get an answer and in the mean time i have located a set of carbs that i will just use in the place of the broken ones.

I understand people are busy and its hard to respond some times!

My dad and I are going to get this bike running like a top and then once its solid we are going to tear it apart chop the rear end and turn it into a bobber. we have looked long and hard for a bike we felt good about and for some reason we fell in love with this one!

Get the casting number off the carb flanges then check this chart, looks like the only difference may be the main jet sizes and air screw adjustment.  Those can be changed, and you should have a set in you 81's carbs.
