Topic: question for the aussies

I love getting a fosters because my grocer sells them cheap, but it never fails I always buy one but wish i got 2 (or 4).  The question is, what is a good Australian beer, and is fosters like our (americans) bud light/miller?

Fosters is one of our least liked beers here, it used to have a laxative effect on me....   Just a generalization but, Queenslanders drink XXXX or fourex, New South Wales drink Tooheys, Victorians drink VB {us Queenslanders call VB vaginal back wash}   , not too sure about the other states but generally we have quite a lot of good beers, Mid strength beers are popular here at around 3.5% alcohol and our normal, {heavy} beers are around 4.5 to 5.5% alcohol....  I suspect your version of fosters isn't what we got here, for example, XXXX {fourex} here in Aus is a heavy beer at 5.5% , its equivalent in the UK was a 3.3% watered down version..
My advice is , if it tastes good drink it....

Ill have to keep a look out for fourex.  The only australian beer I can get is fosters.  Are they al sold in a giant can?

Fosters has been in the US since the late 1960's. The big can is a marketing gimmick, Aussies were always thought of big drinkers and rugged. Crocodile Dundee comes to mind. So a normal sized can would not fit their image or their thirst. If you like it drink it, it is not that good.

Now and again as a gimmick or for marketing the beer companies release bigger cans but generally all out beer is sold in 375ml cans and bottles, or the larger 750 ml bottles, i prefer my beer in glass.....

We have lots and lots of imported beers Steve, don't see American beer much, if at all, never tried one either....

VB= vomit bombs!we have miller draught on tap at the local golf club here,had a couple there last week,most pubs have a few types on tap now,those big cans arent made anymore,they were good,they held the same as a large bottle,great for camping,we called them conquer cans because if you opened one you had to conquer it!i came,i saw,i conquered a few of those cans,check on your can where the fosters is made,i think its licenced everywhere?

Where I come from corona has always been and always will be a chicks beer.

VB is owned by Fosters which is owned by the pom's SAMMILLER

Xxxx is owned by the Japanese through lion Nathan

I do like Coopers. Still australian owned.

Corona is the Mexcan Fosters - they won't drink it but are happy to export it to the US. I like it ut don't buy it, there are others that are better.
