Shipping options??
« on: April 08, 2013, 11:55:59 PM »
Hello everyone! its been a loong time since ive been able to play around on the computer let alone check out whats going on with the site but im back! Some of you may recall me saying i was going to be relocating a few months back.. well i did from Las Vegas to my new job and home here in Syracuse Indiana. After a friend hooked me up with a pretty well junked Dodge ram to drive for a while i have given up on it, its ate away countless hours and dollars from me and i refuse to give it anymore attention.. sooo i was hoping someone here has some suggestions on getting my beloved 750 shipped out here on the cheap? I need her as soon as possible to commute to and from work, my truck is sitting on a friends street with a shot rear pinion bearing and seal along with a bent driveshaft (i would imagine considering i heard and felt it smack the ground at least 10 times) My motorcycle is my last resort i have nothing else that could work as a solution so any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks all for reading my book if youve made it this far! : )

I used uship. No issues other than the trucker had a problem with truck broke down, and delayed delivery.  From somewhere in PA to Los Angeles, close to $600 I think.

I second Uship. I just arranged for a guy to bring my CB750 from Michigan to NC and it went well, good response to my ad, good price, good communication, the bike was well protected and it was delivered on time.

I third uship. They are based here in Austin, used them several times. It's like an auction, shippers place bids for the shipment.

Or you could take a cheap flight to Vegas and make the ride back over a weekend. Probably cheaper than shipping.

Just collect a few SOHC/4 member's contact information for the trip along the way to offer meeting for a cold beverage or warm one if the weather is nippy and possible backup plan for mechanical attention.

I've never had that issue.

I used Uship and the initial quotes were high. Finally, a reasonable quote from a bonded hauler came through and I pulled the trigger. They did have equipment problems and had to change an axle on their trailer in route, failed. Bike was delivered as promised for the price promised and they kept me informed by text message.

Thanks all for the great suggestions i currently have a uship auction going lowest offer ive got so far is 600 bucks a bit high imho but if thats all the lower i can find anything i guess ill have to bite the bullet and pay em. I love the idea of riding it over but i think it may end up being more expensive due to all the precautionary measures i would take to make sure i could make it, plus i dont want to throw 2500 miles at her and then expect her to keep going reliably to and from work... The absolute ideal situation would be me catching a nice honest fellow with a pickup already heading this way that i could pay his fuel costs to get here... buuuut my luck has NEVER been that great so im not holding my breath on that one..

I had a guy post on another forum that he was leaving Western Mass. on a date and coming to North Ga. and did anyone need a bike picked up and delivered and he would only charge a nominal fee to cover gas. He would have had to go right through my parents town on the way and he was going about 50 miles from me here in Ga. I didn't have bike but my dad had a bench top mill/lathe that I've been wanting because he doesn't ever use it anymore at 83 years old. Shipping cost is what has been keeping me from getting it. I contacted the forum member and he agreed to pick it up and deliver it to me for $40. He picked it up on his way through that Sat and delivered it to me on Mon. afternoon. There is certainly a trust issue with this but you can get all his ID info when they pick it up if you need to track them down. I would post what you need in different parts of the forum and se if this might not work out for you. If it does it certainly beats paying $600.
