Hey DME - finally got my later model kickstart :) Fitted it tonight and just been out and done 40 miles or so. The kickstart modification is BRILLIANT!! I have a functional kickstart now and it totally clears the Dunstall brake pedal ;D I am well pleased. This thread has sorted a problem that I thought I had forever. So thanks DME - I owe you one ;)

I'm guessing the 750F kickstarter is curved/hinged out more than the 750K because of the 4-into-1 pipes, versus the 4-into-4 750K setup...

I've been stripping rear brake/wheel parts off a local 750F; I'll make a point to go back and get the kickstarter...just in case...   ;D

Hey I made a little bracket to mount a CBR 900 rearset to. the bracket is 1/2 inch aluminum plate and mounts tot eh engine  mouting bolts cbr rearset was 15 bucks on ebay and about 17 bucks for the left side too.

I got a set (L&R) of those rearsets, too - '98 CBR600 F3...Looks exactly the same...Is that a CB750F you have yours mounted on??  :o  Mine will go on my spare CB550...I'll have to take a close look at my engine mounts...

The only way I could use the two rear motor mounts on my CB550 to mount the rearsets  is to make the aluminum bracket 10" high and 6" wide...   ;D (and make new longer bolts)

I might be able to use the footpeg motor mount and the swingarm pivot...   ::)

Or just start over again from scratch; weld a new bracket where the rear footpeg/muffler mount is...   :P

Kickstarter blocked by rearsets?

Anyone who is using rearsets on their CB750 has probably come across this problem.

Of course, one can use the startbutton but I for one like to kick it!

I´m running Raask rearsets (cheap and plentiful, but a bit on the crude side...) and could only use ca 90 degrees of the kickstarters stroke. Plus I kept hitting the brakelever, making ugly marks on both pedals....

Saw a pic of a kickpedal from a later model 750 and noticed that both the lever and the attachment block were "curved".

In my mind, that would put the lever further to the right when it´s folded out.... and that would give more space for a longer stroke..... got to try it!

Found a really nice kickpedal on Ebay - cost 3 dollars.

Here´s how it turned out:

 - New kickpedal slightly longer by 1/2 inch
 - Fitted straight on
 - Older stock rubber fitted instead of newer thicker rubber
 - In the same position as stock when folded in
 - and a FULL KICKSTARTER STROKE AVAILABLE!

Perhaps this is old news, but I figured I might as well post a tip if it can help someone else  :)

Just for S&G, I stopped by my local cycle boneyard today; the 75 CB750F I've been leeching parts off of was still there; kickstarter in good shape. Took it home and...

The Good News: The spline is the same as my CB500 and CB550's.  ;)

The Bad News: No way this sucka will work on a 500/550!  :'(

The clamp part of the arm mounts toward the front, and the 500/550 clutch housing is in the way. I even tried taking it apart, mounting it upside down, and/or reversing it. Nope. Ain't gonna work!   ::)

So...If I want to clear both my mufflers and my rearsets, I guess I'll have to find a CB550F kickstarter and try that...

Ptrax yes 78 F I used a cbr 600 for the left side as it had the integral  clutch lever.
