needle jet removal and replacement

How to remove and replace the needle jet I got some in my carb kits. They look pressed in,
and before I go damaging my carbs, how do I get the old ones out And new ones, or should I
Just skip this and keep the old ones since they don't appear (don't know how to judge) to be bad.
My toolbox consists mainly of hammers.

What bike. Do you have a 77 78?  The slow jets are pressed in.

What bike?

That's not a jet it's just a guide.  You can clean it without taking it out.

They are easy to remove, take the main jets out, and slide, then from top, cover with a thin piece of rubber to protect it, then tap it out (I used a small drift  ) pops out with ease.

I wouldn't replace them unless they are oval shaped from wear.

The originals are usually better quality than kit replacements.

The cb750 manual refers to it in their diagram as 'needle jet'. My manual is page 75
Item number 24.

I'll see what can do to inspect them, thanks for the tool tip.  Comes down to ease and necessity to replace, carbs kits came with new ones so naturally I have to decide what to do.

I would recommend going ahead and replacing the needle jets while you have the carbs apart and the parts there. Yes, they are called needle jets, but a lot of people don't even know they are there. Some people will swear you mean "emulsion tubes."

I fought with my carbs for almost two years before replacing my needle jets. It made a huge difference for my bike. No more off-idle blubbering, a smoother idle and now all of my air screws can be turned to the same setting. It also cured my issue with one cylinder running richer than the others since apparently that jet was more worn or not seated well. Which leads me to this tip: Make sure that when you install the new jets that all 4 are seated equally well. If one is loose or not in as far it will cause that cylinder to run richer. 

I suppose you can always save the stock ones and put them back in if you are not impressed with the improvement or are afraid of the inferior quality. I haven't had any problems after 3,000 miles of commuting and couldn't be happier with the improvement.

Removed and replaced.  Was quite easy to remove I used fairly light hammer and small punch,
They just popped right out.  Rebuild likely done by the weekend .maybe sooner time permitting.

They didnt appear damaged or worn so probably wasn't necessary I decided to go ahead after
A statement from socal site and jimbo that they had great results.

PS I hate spellche k from this droid phone so annoy I g.
