They're all gone... for now
« on: April 09, 2013, 03:34:39 PM »
Well, I finally pulled the plug on the Red Dragon and sold it.  It was my first SOHC4 and I bought it about four years ago.  I had other bikes before, but none pulled me in like that CB350F, and that's when the disease began!  ;-)

I bought the bike when I was recovering from a shattered ankle and it kept me going when I didn't have much else to do during convalescence.  Then, I started a small business turning and building bikes when I couldn't find work during the depths of our recession.  I eventually became gainfully employed again, and have found that I do not have enough time (nor space since moving apartments) to work on my bikes in comfort.  So, I sold the Red Dragon a month ago.  Oddly, after the Red Dragon was gone (sold to a nice guy who is using it as his first motorcycle), I lost my connection to my other Hondas.  So, those bikes and all the spares I accumulated are now up for sale or already sold.

I hope to fill my stable back up with these beautiful machines again some day, but at the moment city life does not permit it.  So, I'm down to one bike, my Triumph Sprint ST.  I appreciate all the help I have recieved on those bikes from forum members, and I still plan on sticking around to share what I've learned.

Regards,
Camelman

Sorry to hear it, but like you said, you can always get another.

Cheers

I bought my first project 350F in 2000 and sold it in 2003.

I went without for 4 years and bought another project 350F. This one will never be sold.

Thanks guys, and I definitely won't be a stranger.

Stev-O, I do have some cool parts for sale.  I handed most of them over to a friend who is listing them on his website.  I'll post that up in the for sale section soon.  I'll list all my other parts too.  Big collection of 350/400 parts that I'd like to see be used!  Prices, per my norm for used stuff, will be very affordable.

What your going through is my natural progression in life.  I buy a bike.  I spend time and money on it.  I enjoy it for a while then I sell it.  Then I either buy a bike or a classic car and repeat the cycle.  I've been doing this for over 30 years now and for what I have spent I could have bought an island somewhere.  But for all the money I have spent, I have made some great friends, had some great times and spent a ton of time enjoying this hobby with my family.  Money well spent.

The thing is that you always come back to it.  In 2005 I sold what I thought would be the last bike I would ever own, a 2003 Harley that I bought new.  In 2008 I took a Victory Vegas Jackpot in partial trade for a car I was selling.  I sold that too because i thought I was done riding due to two blown disks in my lower back.  You cant ride a bike in that kind of pain.  So I bought a few muscle cars and did that for years.

then my back got better and I bought my CB750 just to play around with.  Now I sold off my last muscle car and have 6 bikes at home.  At some point this too will pass and I will be on to the next thing.  Whatever that may be.  Its all part of how I hobby.

Once your life settles down you'll get the itch again and we will see you back here.  See you soon and until then enjoy what your doing.

Camelman - I am sad to hear that but can totally relate to your decision.  Thanks for your many contributions to this board.  Your experiences have helped me a lot with understanding my 400f mods and what to do to/with it.
