Not
real lucky! Bike had 5-6K miles, less than 1 year old, engine trashed and I was offered $500 for the whole $1800 bike as is. That piston (or better yet the weed and the purple passion I was drinking) at Daytona in 1976 when I was attempting to clean off the sparks plugs prior to very confidently taking on a 900 Kaw straight up is what turned me into an unqualified CB750 to 812 to 900 (see NEW piston) and upcoming 1000 wrench
I'm still learning and getting better. I've kept that souvenir all these years but I did lose track of the valve head somewhere along the way.
Michael, I wasn't THAT messed up to ride it 20 more miles! Buzzed, yes! Hey, I was 24 OK
and there was NOT a piece of tail that got turned down either (as long as no one saw me). It went
BAM somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000+ when I missed 2nd. Bad habit of not letting off the throttle (I now have a Dyna 2000 with rev limiter set at 10,000 with much stronger springs). When they go
BAM you shut them down. I immediately pulled the clutch, pulled over, got off, looked for oil leaks and massive holes caused by rods (no leaks/holes), hit the starter button (nothing), jumped on the kick starter (fn locked), then told the Kaw guy to go get the trailer and some help.
