can't answer that until you pull it apart.
It can be anything from a gasket to a cracked part. Some fixes are easy, some less so. get it apart and report back.

Best advice.

It could also be the grommet that the wires feed out. It may be unseated or just warn to the point where some oil will sneak by. Again you will have to pull off the cover to check it.

Okay will do it tomorrow.

The gasket i new, i think it is the grommet but will check tomorrow.
If the grommet is worn , do you think i can seal it with liquid gasket?

Perhaps. You might be better off just replacing it if that turns out the culprit. How much of a leak do you have?

If grommet is worn or damaged I don't think you have too many options other than liquid gasket
Isn't it molded around the wires?

Crazy, it appears you are correct. Checking the parts list and illustrations suggest this is all part of one major unit. The grommet is not listed as a separate part. Looks like the wiring is fed through it during manufacture/assembly.

That grommet has never been available. Clean it good with some brake clean to get all the oil off best to remove it to get to the back side and work in some epoxy or you will need to buy the whole thing.

in my experience, alternator case isn't under pressure, and whatever oil gets as high as the grommet is just a mild splash, so even when it's kinda dogged, it's not usually the culprit . if it's a real leak that drips even when the bike is off, it's going to be a lower part of the gasket or a crack.

It probably got displaced when new gasket was fitted so may now be damaged?

Of all the parts that are fabricated by various businesses as well as the peeps around here this is one of them that I can't understand why someone with fabrication skills hasn't taken on. The only thing I can think of is that it would be a low cost (e.g. profit) item. The other one is the rubber piece that the chain rides on by the drive sprocket. Not made anymore. But, when your only option is to buy a whole stator just because of a grommet, well that just plane sucks....and is a problem waiting to be solved.

Hondaman?
