Now this is just plain dumb

Stupidity knows no bounds. I normally get about $15 for these side covers. I guess I should post some and send my kids to college.

the high bidder paid 91.00 for the other side these are the guys who cause the rest of us to pay way too much for #$%*.

I would say these kind of guys should be taken to some place dark, but they are getting what they deserve by paying that much for a lousy $10-$15 part.

A minty straight install - no paint must be worth more than the bike.

I had an 80 750 i was trying to get side covers for. Seems like the only place I could find a cover was on ebay, and there was no way I was going to pay 100 on up for a friggin side cover! After all was said and done I just sold the bike for $800. I paid $75 for it, and put in about 30 bucks... There is a sucker born every minute

Actually there are only 4 bidders and the two smart ones bowed out early.
Looks like another case of  " I want it and you can`t have it !!!" Why doesn`t this ever happen to my auctions :'(

Holy #$%*! I'm vindicated! I was looking for new side panels and accidentally ordered them from CMS Netherlands, where with shipping and conversion to Euros, I got raped by paying about 180.00 for NEW ones! That's before I found you guys! I was inexperienced...those guys re Doing CRACK!

I guess I am just spoiled living where I do there are 3 or 4 places local that sell used parts. So it is pretty easy to find things. I just can't believe that this guy is willing to pay 250. Will be interesting to see if the part gets re listed due to the guy not paying. But then again he paid so much for the other side, he is probably gonna pay. I agree with cbjunkie we should all send him an email congratulating him on his purchase.

Unbelievable.  I didn't read the listing closely - was the rest of the bike thrown in with the purchase?

"cronen", the bidder going head to head with "langkawi" has never bid on ANYTHING on Ebay before. this is his first auction.

does that strike anyone else as a little odd?...get the gears turning...?

If it is a shill bid I can tell you from seeing it happen. It will be this sellers last shill bidding episode if he is caught. Not that I do this, but I have seen others who do.

Could, except that this part has hit a price that is suspiciously obscene. Kind of puts up bright red flags even to Evil Bay staff. I really, it is quite obvious what is going on.

oh i mean if they ban him or spank him or whatever (maybe he's the seller? or friend...) couldn't he just make up a new handle and keep doing it?

i don't know how they keep track of that stuff...ISP?

They can keep track of this type of activity. Trust me the punishment for the first time. Usually makes sure someone does not do it twice. But there was that guy in Chicago (something something british bikes only?). He was changing usernames when he got some feedback he did not like. And still does it. So I guess he could keep changing names and addreses.

I'm pretty sure something like that was going on when I bought my bike. There was one other person bidding on it with me, and when the auction ended he had won and actually retracted his bid... I got curious so I looked up his profile etc, and could tell from the feedback that him and the seller had done lots of bussiness together. My guess is that he was helping his friend get a higher bid. I hate  to admitt it, but to avaoid any hassle I ignored it. I mean I got a bike that ran and was in decent conditon for a price I was very happy with... It did teach me to look out for that sort of thing in the Future.

A guy here at work had that happen on a bike. After he won, contacted the seller, and made his Paypal deposit, he noticed the guy he got into a little bidding war with had a username remarkably similar to the seller's company. When he asked about it the seller said, "Um well, there's a guy that works here that wanted the bike and I told him he had to bid on it." So Brian (my coworker) said "Well since he wanted it so bad and he's closer to you, just send me my money back and sell it to him." The seller did, but wasn't too happy about it.  ;)
