Yeah, I think Steve was thinking that I was negatively commenting on the 1975 Z1 colours being boring, what I was saying is that the (very plain) metallic brown colour that my 1975 Z900 (or KZ900 in the US) was pretty ordinary compared to the earlier colour schemes, including his. It's alright, I'm used to being kicked in the balls.......... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Steve, Larry, others that might be interested in the hijack topic...

Did a little work On it the week I got it...(Nov 3 weekend) it is a former Parkersburg WV City Transit Bus was much nicer in photos they used to sell it on ebay. Was an as is sale for $3k. I got the last nice one. The other they wanted 2500 for...might have been worth it if the motor was better but, they lied on multiple fronts and were not straight forward in their dealings.
It runs well but its acceleration is good for city but tops out on highway at about 65-70 above the 2500 rpm sweet spot. 2800 is too loud.....
Needs a good scrubbing and wax job. Plus lots of work to bring it back to top notch. Has to be regeared as that 4.30 final drive in Dana 80 rear end is best for around town fun, not highway hauling and fuel economy

Will start a thread...

Been working on my '00 Crown Vic PI as was going to use it to pull a 6x12 trailer to do hauling. This Freightliner MB19FD/ Goshen Sentry bus came along allowing me to easily haul 6-8 bikes with lots of room..
Higher startup costs and operating costs but a better solution when sorted with less expense and more suitable to hauling.
Crown Vic had symptoms of a broken timing chain tensioner, or broken spring or cam follower issue. None were the case and what a PITA to work on.
Over last month I tore down motor to get front engine cover, valve covers, and lots of other things removed or disconnected. Valve cover seals are a $400 job and they are a PITA, especially the passenger side. Clearance on the motor is very very very tight. That 4.6L v8 is shoehorned into the engine bay. I preferred my 240 Volvos I drove and maintained for 23 years. Time I had, money having been out of work for the past year, that is different. Car is back together tomorrow and moving under its own power. I like the V8 power but man, it is not a fun car to work on, my 66 Volvo 122S could be a pain but, it was a lot of fun when compare d, as well as small and emmensely fun to drive.

Hey guys, got back from Florida yesterday, had a great trip. Went boating on Friday, my brother has a 37' Formula, had fun with the Family.

Last day off work today and decided to unpack the huge box that's been inside my garage for the past couple weeks....

The pipes were very nicely packed - and the pipes themselves were double wrapped.
I'm very pleased with the quality, pics do not do them justice. There is a light coating of oil on them, I will polish once the install is complete.

The pipes came with all new hardware except the 6mm nuts and washers needed for the studs on the head. I used the old ones temporarily but will pick up new locally in the next day or two.
These mounted up very easily...

I wanted to take a ride on the K8 since it's been a couple weeks and such a beautiful day today [sunny and 70*].
I'll get the other two mounted up this week, I'm itchin to get this thing fired up!.

More like $1300+, but thats not the point [and I don't keep a tally].
Decided in the beginning that this bike was getting 4-4's, a Kerker would have been much cheaper.

Me either, no tally.  No idea how much I have into the long neglected Pink Cancer 400.  I finally got the side covers and am now waiting on the seat cover( I decided to have the seat recovered white-pink and silver stripes will be added)..  Awesome bike Steve

That looks great Steve, don't forget to install new exhaust gaskets, or it'll leak so bad you'll think you've blown a head gasket. ;D

Absolutely.  Left out that step but removed old, cleaned head and installed new gasket with a dab of grease to hold it in place.  BTW, the Z gaskets are a slightly smaller diameter.

I don“t doubt a second that you will do so and your Z will become a real beauty.

Just to keep you motivated (and to keep the benchmark high...) here are my 1973 Z1 carbs. Just came in after a girlfriend in Berlin had her hands on/in it:

I'm about a year and half late, but look at the Yoshi that was available last year.
I'll buy it  if/when I come across one....
[already checked ebay!]

And cool story about Pops tuning it and getting the record at Daytona.

All Yoshi stuff is good, but I don't like that "cut and shut" tailpipe Steve, the later ones with the smooth bends look much nicer and must flow better without the sharp corners, that one looks like an old Redneck's stovepipe...........  :-\
