I saw a group of maybe 10 fully restored immaculate Z's in Deals Gap last Saturday. I just had to walk by with my 750 jacket on  ;)

I take it that was before you were T Boned Jerry, or did you just tough it out to walk past those Kawasaki dudes? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Yeah Terry I was so disgusted I immediately left THEN got nailed.

Frank, it's been a week now. I have 2 plates. One in each bone. Staples on both side of ankle which I have not seen. Clam shell style cast. Not hard cast but 2 cast pieces placed over cotton padding and wrapped with Ace type bandages.  Dr appt Fr at home. I'll see it then. Swelling decreased greatly. More discomfort than pain. I should be able to drive since my rt foot is good. I'll get home Th and try then.

I have some pics in this phone but I'll be damned if I know how to use this SOB. Pix late next week. Even some sweet Kaw 900's and 1000's.

Glad to hear your not in do much pain, Jerry. After reading your details of The Dragon, I no longer want to bride it, too many other uncrowded, great roads.
Would like to see the pics of the Z's

Received some parts this week, a really nice powdered coated triple and side stand and some repop gauge covers...

Removed the old triple and guages and installed the new ones with all new hardware for the bar clamps and triple.

Also changed the upper [too long] brake line and flushed out all the old nasty fluid.
Front brake feels great, rear is so so and new shoes are on the list.

PO must have had some ape hangers on there as clutch cable is too long too, will order a new one.

The repop covers may not look good in the pic, but the paint work is very nice. All of Z1's parts are made in Japan.

Bolted on the powdercoated side stand, was happy to get rid on the chrome plated one. Didn't realize the chrome one was shorter than stock, prolly installed when the 16" rear wheel was installed. Looking for a centerstand replacement too.

Took it out for an 18 mile test ride, running great.

Next up:
Just ordered a new rear Avon tire and tube and need to order ss spokes for the new 18" DID rim I have on the shelf.

Is that the stock side stand Stev-o? My Kz1000's is the same angle, I always thought it was bent.

As far as I know, it is a stock side stand.  Its powder coated, bought it on eBay to replace the chrome plated one that was on the bike when I bought it. Chrome one was at least an inch shorter, most likely put on because of the 16" rear rim/tire which will be changed very soon.

Rolled the bike out of the garage today, started right up and ran great on a 20 mile ride today.

What bike is that Toy?

My Hayabusa. Second picture was where I had it over 155 mph.

What a rush, still had plenty left but was thinking "did I put that on right?"  ;D

Had it geared for 195. Thought I heard GOD tell me to slow it up.  ;)

Hello and thanks for your interest,

My name is Samuel Dugan and I have been a field engineer for the last four years working for two oil companies. That means I spend most of my time in the workshop or office planning projects, but very frequently go to the rig to run a project for a few weeks. Right now I'm working in the ultra-deep water Gulf of Mexico on floating drilling rigs doing sub sea oil well control... so I apologize for not being able to meet you in person and close this deal the old-fashion way.
I have dropped my price to $3,700 since this is an Urgent Sale! I must sell the bike within a week or so because I need the money to buy a new fishing boat from a friend who is going overseas in 10 days. All documents, including owner’s manual, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will be provided along with the bike. If you are serious about buying the bike, I will ship it for no extra cost and I suggest we go through Google Checkout because it offers protection for both of us. You can read more about Google Checkout on https://sites.google.com/site/basictool3

I look forward to your reply.

Yours sincerely,
Samuel Dugan

@TT that Busa must be a blast.

Understatement. It was scary.  :o

I sold it a few years back. It was an 03 model because that was my favorite color however when offered a fully decked out 09 trailer and 5K in cash thought I better do it.

A few years ago a buddy of mine finally had to sell his '81 Z1 Classic , which was basically a fuel injected KZ1000LTD, that his dad had purchased new.

It was in need of restoration, but I remember riding it when it was only a few years old, it was an amazing bike.

Toy - jump on that deal, free shipping!

Danny - the Z1 was only made 3 years, '73-'75, about 85,000 bikes. They were KZ's afterwards...

I know. The Z1 Classic was a one only (1980) special edition of the KZ1000. Technically the model is KZ1000G, it's effectively a KZ1000 LTD with fuel injection (I believe the first factory fuel injected street bike)

That chrome wasn't holding up well on my buddy's bike.

Plated aluminum parts can be difficult, not done right and the chrome ends up coming off. The aluminum expands at a different rate leading to the problem. I don't recall what some of the tricks needed to make it more successful.
