I know a guy locally that can make me a beauty of a stainless 4-1 for my kz1000 but after seeing that teaser pic of yours I might have to spring for a set of 4-4's come springtime.

I considered buying the SS MotoGP for this bike, but the stock style pipes look so good, it was an easy decision. I could of saved a bunch of money, though, but it's only money.

The KZ1000's didn't have 4 into 4's mate, they had a factory 4 into 2 system, but I don't think it'd matter if you put Z1 4 into 4's on yours, as long as they fit, with the disc rear end? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yeah, but the 4:2 is a f'ugly exhaust.
Ruined the line of the bike.
Probably the only thing worse is the Z1R, way too square and the colour didn't help

I debated mounting the exhaust for the 77. After all, how rare are these? After much thought I said "hey", why should someone else enjoy them? Mounted shortly thereafter.

You got a Mikuni carb guy yet? ;)

No, but I am hoping you are one!
Unfortunately, the carbs are not stock, has the 26mm rather than the original 28's. I've read that this was a common mod, apparently the 28's could be difficult to tune.
I'm probably gonna have to rejet, don't you guys think?  Bike currently has Jardine[?] mufflers, which have no baffles.

There is a guy you know and have done business with Terry that knows Mikuni carbs very well.
Are the Mikunis on your bike like the Weber DCOE carbs, in that Dellatoro (?spelling?), Mikuni, and Weber all made the same carb with subtle differences to no differences and full parts exchange. Haynes made an excellent book on the DCOEs, I had the SU HS6 carbs on the '66 Volvo 122S I owned between '94-'11 and still have the Haynes SU carb book. I parted it out and sent virtually the shell to scrap, I didn't realize they had doubled in value in the 6 years it had been off the road and stranded in Ohio since my wife and I had separated in '06 after moving temporary to find work in '05. I was successful...I was interviewing for a writing job and they switched the interview after 10-15 minutes and I interviewed for the Quality Improvement Specialist they had been seeking. Sorry for segue... wish I hadn't parted it but kept it.

Maybe there is a Haynes Carb manual on the model, you could become your own specialist.
But, the fellow I mentioned is a CX/GL enthusiust, Murray knows carbs and Mikunis as he now sells a kit for the bikes as a perf upgrade that really wakes up the CX carbs and dynos with good perf gain in hp and torque over the stock Keihlin CVs.
Maybe Terry could introduce you and see if he could spare some phonetime with you to give you some guidance on Mikunis, in general, over Keihlins. He has Goldwings and CX/GLs...Maybe others... He is good guy.

Nice, congrats on pipes and recent sale...

There is good riding weather, just wished I had a bike plated and legal here...AZ plates and TN driver's license don't mix...
Rain today caused a lot of leaves to fall and they have been changing.
Migraine headache today wiped out my progress on car's timing chains, tensioners, waterpump, plugs, oil & filter, etc.
Stev-o found  missing 550 parts let me know what you lack in PM or email.  Man has the
4 yrs in humid OH and in TN have increased rust and some oxidation

Thanks Dave, and yep, Murray knows heaps about Mikuni's for CX's and others, but the real Kawasaki expert is Jeff who owns Z1 Enterprises, he's a member here too, and he knows more about Mikuni's on Z1's than anyone I know.

I needed some (rare) 29mm Smoothbore parts and emailed Jeff, and he pulled the parts out of his own carbs for me, and only charged a few bucks for them, plus shipping. If I had a Z1, I'd be chatting to Jeff. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Forgot to finish my thought there, rust and oxidation on the CA95 as it was not clean and has failed paint that is, scratches and abraision so when I got it in AZ it was just surface stuff and virtually no pitting most spots. Bike is from Idaho and apparently was a storage sale as it sold too cheap by non-titled owner. Have original Idaho title that is ancient. Thinking about VT title to keep original as I figure it will be a PITA since no bill of sale that is notarized... metal side covers have aluminum engraved dealer badges .

My CA95, S90, and C70 got stranded in TN in May '09 when I ruptured my achilles tendon 2nd week on job in Sierra Vista, so I was not able to move my stuff as I was going to return to move my things as they would not pay for move to SV and I wanted out of Dayton any way I could...

Larry, it just struck me your user name and real name could be a pun or play on words. Not trying to make fun but, where did MoMo originate (back story). Send it to me privately if you like. Are you a fan of what "Rigby", Mel Gibson's character in Lethal Weapon series of Movies, called "The Boys"?  Terry, etc. don't be twisting my words out of context and  speculating on "The Boys" as some homosexual reference as it is not. MoMo could be a nickname from childhood. Sometime I might share how "RAFster122S" came into being, yes it is 'rooted' in my '66 Volvo 122S. I loved that car and miss it dearly. It was very personalized and I built it into a fun street rod, highly entertaining to drive on curvy roads.

In reply to your question, request, yes I will share let me post a photo from the camera on my phone. I brought the side covers to my aunt's house where I am now living. I don't want to use the Canon SX150IX as I would have to go upstairs to my computer and I might wake my aunt. She is not a morning person and sleeps in until 8-9 some days. Neither of us use an alarm clock unless we need to be up and somewhere early. I wake every day between 6-6:45 after having gone to bed between 12-1am.  I have had sleep problems for over 10 years so I don't fight it or try to let it stress me, especially since I am not currently employed. Got enough stress looking for work.

Well, I need to get moving, 45 minutes on Nook Tablet is too much when I have 12 hrs of car work ahead of me. Timing chains, tensioners, valve cover gaskets, water pump, plugs, plug boots, etc. Car has been on jack stands since Wednesday afternoon. Thursday was lost to a migraine headache.
Momo, pic is coming as I am headed to breakfast. My aunt is now awake, I can use the Canon...

Canon, easy there Terry, need to put your computer glasses on instead of squinting to read the screen...  :D
Were tempted to use a Cannon on someone it wouldn't be towards her, it would lob the cannonball/shell in a different direction...  ;D

Saturday got totally revamped on plans as I needed a tool and needed to apply to some jobs so while I got the pics I didn't find the time to download them from the CANON digital camera (Canon SX150IS if you want to know precisely what camera... )

Will post a pic or send it privately if others (other than MoMo) aren't interested in the side badges...

Hey Steve here is a long but pretty cool vintage Kawasaki promo. Lots of vintage triple, enduro and the "new" Z1. First 16 minutes is motorcycles, scenes from the factory etc. Rest is what else the mother company builds like jet engines and other cool stuff. Its a pretty fun watch, grab a cold one and enjoy.
PS-If you make it to the part where the triples are hitting the dyno on the way out the door you will get a laugh out of the way the young Jap men are thouroughly thrashing the new machines, guess their motto was "We don't need no Stinkin' break in"  ;D
COME OUT AHEAD ON A KAWASAKI.

Yes ,my good friend who helps out greatly and has a key to the shop and many of his good tools there has a punched out 74 He has owned now for over 34 years. All I have so far Steve is a 350 and a 400 triple. As hard as I look for a 500 and a 750 when they do pop up they are very expensive or gone in a flash. Does not help that the name I dropped in the video is based in Northern Michigan when not in England and has sucked a lot of bikes out of the area or his pickers grab them.   ::)

One of Kawasaki’s biggest contributions to the world has got to be there donation of 14 bikes to the film producer for MAD MAX.

 Mad Max Motorcycle Gang

Of the motorcycles that appear in the film, 14 were Kawasaki Kz1000 donated by the industry. All were modified in appearance by Melbourne business La Parisienne – one as the MFP bike ridden by 'The Goose' and the balance for members of the Toecutter's gang, played in the film by members of a local Victorian motorcycle club, the Vigilantes.[15]
