Well, I've had the Z for about 10 months, so thought it might be time to make it legal?

Went down to the County Tax office at 10:30 Friday morning - closed WTF?
There was a CHANCE of snow, so they opened late [didnt snow after all].
Went back at Noon, 30 min & $117 later, I walked out with the title transferred, bike registered and an antique plate good for four years, quite a deal in my book!

Slapped the new plate on yesterday and went for a ride on a glorious Winter day!

The Z monster is running great, love it through the Hills at 80!

Great news!!!! Now you can go out and tear up the roads in your great weather. (Legally, this time.  ;) )
Here, just the tags, reg. and new title will be over $100.00 and the reg. will only be good for ONE year!   >:(
$55.00 per year, and climbing, thereafter.
Last year, my oldest bike cost more to reg. than one of my cars!!!   >:( >:( >:(

Technically, yes.  But this bike isnt a commuter and if I keep it under 100 mph, the cops don't bother me around here!

Thanks....and yes, a BLAST!   After a few lengthy rides, I have noticed the suspension to be a little "loose".  Upgrades will be coming soon. [currently have my K4 pulled apart]

Trade a ride on the Z for the CBX or the Cooley Suzi?!

I've heard that era of Kaw's had some handling issues... never rode one, so couldn't confirm it.

I'd trade rides, any day..... I always like to ride other bikes, especially one's I haven't ridden ever.

We've all heard that.  I've yet to push it past 8/10's in the curves, it def feels differant than my K4 [faster!].  I'm probably being overly cautious 'cause I've heard the stories [and have a wife and kid]. The plan is new springs and a stabilizer in the front and bushing and shocks on the back. I'd like some high quality shocks but want to retain the original look. Repops?

They are easier to see in this before I painted it back to black picture of the gussets and steering head bracing
that they did for this frame to eliminate the kawacker flex that they had. These improvements were added to this bike in 1979.
The steel tubes added near the steering head on the frame backbone are kind of in the way for the coils.
Perhaps they could be moved back a half inch or so on yours?

You really cannot see it here but basically they boxed in the entire steering head including a plate where the horn goes.
I had a bit of trouble getting mine to mount in the stock location and had to do some tweaking.

Another shot that shows how those upper tube braces could be moved just a bit further back for coil clearance.

[/URL

Look just in front of the coils and down for the plate.

They had originally planned to race this bike as it was the dealership owners personal ride.
