They look like the one you posted a pic of.  Perhaps I'm confusing the H2 with the H1 calipers?

Yes, the pics posted were of my H1 500.  That piston cleaned up well and brakes working well, although a little spongey.

The H2 I bought is in MN awaiting pickup from the shipper. You still have that Z1 roller?

Plan to retorque the heads today and do a test ride if the roads dry put and rain stays away.
Been raining nearly every day this week, no seat time at all.

Here's a pretty cool video if you have six min to spare.  It's a track test at Fontana of the new and old H2.
The '72 H2 is owned by a member of the Triples forum, but he is not the rider. Enjoy...

Did you get her out yesterday?

Yes, rolled the H1 out after torquing the heads yesterday, started up within 10 kicks or so (I think it's been two weeks since last run).  Sounded good so I suited up.  The bogging out is first gear is a little better, bike really screams above 4K RPM.  But trying not to push it too hard since I'm still under 100 miles since rebuild.
After about 10 miles, it starts bogging bad, I pull over and it dies.  I checked fuel level before I left and it appeared to have at least a gallon, thought that would be plenty.....wrong.  Flip the petcock to reserve and it kicks back to life, off to nearest fuel station, about 3 miles away.
Fill it up with 93 octane, then does not want to start, WTF?
Decided to try to push start it, and I am off and running again.  The sky was looking pretty dark and not wanting to get stranded and soaked, I head back to the house.  Once back in the driveway, I shut it down and kick start it, fires right back up.   The non-start at the gas station frustrates me but I have not put the genuine Mikuni brass in the carbs yes, that is the plan for this week.
I feel progress but albeit slow, but like I stated earlier, was taking a step back.

Nice!

I suppose it has oil pump or do you mix in the gas?

I would love to try out different 2 stroke than CZs and Jawas i messed with in previous life.  The power flwxibility of two strokes was always amazing.

Yes, it has an oil pump that injects oil into the motor at various points.

Good question, as I havent even seen the thing yet!  Bougt it as a "blind basket case" from a well respected Triples Forum member. [he didnt even send pics!]
May sound foolish but for the price I paid, other members said I should have no worries. Great guy, we've had long discussions on the phone. He even "threw in" an H2 roller [no motor, so it was a twofer]!
The motor does need rebuild so it wont be bone stock [crank is already rebuilt, that $400 saved already].
Once received, hopefully in two weeks, I'll have to measure the bores and see what size pistons I'll need, .5 or 1mm over? I'll have the same guy that I used on my H1, blast and bore, he was great.  He'll also chamfer the ports for me.
It had enough power stock, I am not interested in building a faster rocket!

Yeah,Those H2's had  fantastic midrange 'Roll-On' acceleration and if you were to port it for that 'big bang' top end PUNCH you'd lose that midrange 'Roll-On' strength and focus it more all up toward the high rpms.I also love the sound of the factory Kaw. triple oem mufflers, just Nice !  8)

Re: Yes....I got a Z1 and now an H1! Motor rebuilt - update!
« Reply #1074 on: July 11, 2015, 02:09:49 PM »
Well, an update on the H1 is overdue, so here ya go:

If you havent been following, the motor was rebuilt with Wisecos +.5mm, crank rebuilt with new seals and bearings, carbs rebuilt with Sudco carbs kits and the thing just did not run that well. So disapointed.

Thanks to the guys at the Triples forum, they informed me that the Sudco carb kits are crap! And genuine Mikuni is NLA.
So I sourced genuine used Mikuni brass for the 3 carbs, got it all in and bike is now running fantastic!  I've only put about 250 miles on the bike, but what a joy to ride.
It's still a little "doggy" starting off in 1st gear [typical], but once that tach hits 5000, the engine is singing and the bike is ripping!
90mph on this thing feels like you are flying!  It is so light and nimble, the superbike bars are perfect for it.
It's been the bike of choice the last 2 weeks for "quick" rides after work when I have the time.
I almost feel bad for the Z1, she hasnt been ridden in a month. [maybe tomorrow].

Last year I won an auction for a body set and now finally fitted the tank and one sidecover, one was incorrect for my year, WTF?!  Oh well, I have the old one still on there and plan to source one and get it painted to match.
BTW - these sidecovers are metal and bolt on...nice!

For those who havent heard, I bought an H2!  Super excited about it. However, it's not quite ready to ride, it came in 5 boxes........here is one!
