Hard Saddlebag Recommendations For CB550K?
« on: May 03, 2013, 10:45:13 AM »
I've been thinking about getting a pair of hard saddlebags for my CB550K, primarily so that I can carry light items conveniently, like my portable computer bag to/from work, bring home a bag of groceries, etc.  I found a set that I think might look alright style-wise, and the price seems very reasonable, just wondering if anyone here has any experience with them or silimar products from this manufacturer.  Here is a link to the bags:

http://www.mutazu.com/index.html , specifically the Mutazu GA Hard Saddlebags in Matte Black.

If not these, does anyone have any other recommendations?  I'm not concerned about fitting my helmet inside, as typically use a helmet lock, either the stock hook (or one that is relocated for convenience), I'm interested in keeping the overall width down to something reasonable.  Thanks.

I couldn't find saddle bags that fit my computer bag.

I've got a trunk bolted to a luggage rack on my 550. I like it a lot. Very convenient.

I second the trunk idea.

My FJ1200 had a luggage rack and inexpensive trunk. I would bungie net the computer bag to the backrest portion of the trunk and could put a bag or two of groceries in the trunk. My 550 had a luggage rack w/rmovable back rest. The back rest was ugly, but it made a great attaching point for my messenger bag.

If you spend a little extra on something like a Givi rack and removable trunk, when commuting if you know for sure you won't need the trunk you can leave it behind and strap the bag directly the rack.

Yes, I agree that trunks are very functional, but there is something about them that seems to look awkward, whereas saddlebags look a bit more integrated (just my opinion there).

Here are some to consider but you'll probably have to build your own mounts!!
