Planning on doing the slimy crud run this year for the first time. Was planning on taking the Kawasaki concourse as my long distance tourer but as I looked at the SCR web site, I really want to ride the cb550! I'm only riding from Milwaukee so it shouldn't hurt too bad but it will hurt more than the kaw... Way more mileage than I am used to on the 550.

My two buddies who do rockerbox with us are doing the run. My boys have greeco state that day or else I would. Last year it pissed non stop on him. He said it cleared up when he was at cross plains.

If the weather is good, I will take the 550. The slimy crud run is a cafe run and I would feel sucky if I whimped out a took the Kaw...

I was ready to go last year but the tornado warnings had me thinking not.

I'm planning on being there with my brother.

He lives south of Madison, I live in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The day prior is the Vintage Torquefest in Dubuque, Iowa. We're making a weekend of it.

Do a YouTube slimey crud run search. I found a few movies. The kawi would fit in. All types of bikes go.

you are right, the Kaw would be fine but its not the 1974 cb550 and it's all about the cool factor and the 550 has it In spades. The Kaw is a great bike no doubt but in a bike gathering like this, plain vanilla!

Shane, hope to see you there on my 550. Sohc brotherhood needs to stick together!

Yep, this is a great ride. Its not an organized ride, just kind of a word of mouth meeting. Then once you see all you want to see at Pine Bluff you ride through the country to Leland. And see more cool bikes.

No escorts, no planned route. Just go out and ride any direction you want and try to make it Leland. Its one of the few "rallies"/"rides" in Wisconsin not dominated by Harley, so it makes it a lot of fun seeing all the different bikes.

Just dont do anything stupid. Local police know about the run so they are always out watching (most of them just like seeing all the bikes).

I'll be there, probably on my 78F.

If I can ride there all the way from oshkosh on the 350 you can make it on the 550! Besides, half the reason I go to it is to look at all the interesting bikes so the more the merrier.

I'll be there on the 750 as long as it isn't raining.

I got a buddy who works for the Muskegon to Milwaukee ferry, so I can probably float over to Wisconsin for cheap/free....would love to meet up with sohc4 guys. Tews, I'm bummed that you are busy. Anybody know what Old Scrambler is up to?

Looks like we'll be well represented! The pressure is on to take the 550!
If the weather is threatening ill probably wimp out and ride the Kaw.

Yes, TWT last night...expected more bikes but not bad. Glad you found your 550f, I know you have been looking. There was a 1974 550k green in pretty nice original condition there last night with 2500 miles. Just needed a little rag tuning to be really nice. The guy said he was about to ebay it. Wanted $2000 to $2500.

Don't know what I'm going to do about the Slimey Crud run. May just go and ride the Kawasaki if the weather is threatening.

I rode my 550 from Chicago to Madison when my dad was in the hospital there. It's a really nice ride if you stick to the old 2-lanes rather than the tollway and expressways.

Weather permitting, I'll ride the 550. Rode up to Plymouth last weekend up hwy 57 135 miles round trip no issues, the bike is running great. I was figuring to take Hwy 18 west from Milwaukee all the way around Madison to Hwy 14.

18 between Milwaukee and Madison isnt a bad ride. Done it many times with my 750s. Once you get into Madison rather than going all the way to 14, take Mineral Point Rd and head West. This will take you straight to Pine Bluff and right by the Red Mouse.

Yeah, The Red Mouse is the meeting place in Pine Bluff where it technically "starts."

I dont recall the name of the bar in Leland, but there are roughly 5 buildings in Leland and 2 of them are bars, so its pretty much impossible to miss.

I'll be there on the K6 with my dad. He hasn't decided if he's riding the K2 or if he's gonna wimp out and take the Harley.
