CB350 V. CB360
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:39:57 PM »
I'm kinda familiar with the 350 Twin and such, but what about the 360?  How do the two stack up?  As mentioned before, I am thinking of picking up a twin on the cheap to bang around on and I am thinking of considering the 360s as well.

According to what I've read, the CB360 was to be Honda's first "clean" bike, as in lower emissions. The fuel economy is not all that stellar on these compared to a 350. I think there are more 350 twins around (in terms of parts availability) as the 360 was only made for about 3-4 years.

Others have made comparisons too. Anyway, my 2 cents...

I like CB360's but they do have some issues with cams seizing in cyl head, but there are a couple of mods to make them more reliable.
I have 4 at present but dont have titles which sucks ( didnt realise how much more difficult it would be in US compared to UK to get registered) They will take much bigger overbores though ;D
Pic is CJ250 with 14mm overbore (391cc) good for about 120 believe it or not, 'handling' is 'interesting'

I also forgot to mention the notorious cam chain tensioner issues on the early 360's...

The 360 was often considered somewhat of a bastard child... I had a 360 and everyone told me that it didn't stack up to the 350. It has a 6-speed while the 350 has a 5. However, the 5 in the 350 was geared "better" and the 350 had more power and better gas mileage, along with better handling. If I was able to choose between a 350 and a 360 I'd go with the 350.

jonesy, when you say "according to what i've read" do you still have some of this material or know where you found it? i'd be very interested in reading it.

crazypj, was that overbore something easily found or was it kind of a pieced together type thing? i'd be interested in a big bore but maybe not as big as yours. also do any of the four you have not run and have a points cover you'd be willing to part with? i'm needing one and having a hard time finding one.

A few of the items were from old motorcycle mag articles that have been posted on the internet.. be darned if I can remember where I found them...

I have an old Honda brochure promoting small motorcycles as a way to save on gas and the CB360 is mentioned in it.
