Flake sunrise orange. Painters please help
« on: April 25, 2013, 03:44:40 AM »
I am in the middle of building a 74 cb750 and am soon ready to paint it. I am painting it flake sunrise orange. I am wondering if there is a base/clear or single stage that is the same color? Or is the only way to do it is a tri-coat?

Ifmyou want a true candy look it takes tree stages (not including primer). Other methods look ok at best.  Base coat + color + clear = candy.

Also to add info
If you apply TOO MUCH color over your base coat then the CANDY effect is lost, and ANY imperfections in the base metal (dings, dents) will cause the FLAKE to puddle and pool in that area.

If you are looking for a true reproduction then a 3 part paint is needed.  The guys here have attempted and came up with a tested formula.  I too wanted a quick and easy way out but settled for  a burnt orange flavor.

That too was 3 stage though!   Base black, clear & metalflake, clear apply decal, more clear
