« on: April 25, 2013, 06:27:09 PM »
Im building a set of wheels for a guy and ive never been asked to do this. I would assume i need shorter spokes but ive alwasy used stock.  Any one know a company that will make them for me and not cost a fortune?

The holes for the spoke nipples are drilled at a greater angle from the center of the dimples for rims that are to be installed on drum hubs, so I wouldn't recommend using a rear CB750 rim on a front disc hub, as the spokes will need to be at a different angle for a front disc hub.  There are other applications that used a 18" front rim, years ago I found a 18" x 1.85" rim from a parted-out Kawasaki that I installed on a CJ360T twin front hub, and since it had a (narrower) 18" rim as stock, so the stock spokes worked fine.  It's possible that the CB/CJ/CL360 stock front spokes will work for the CB750 as well when switching from a 19" to a 18" rim, as they use the same front brake rotor, and so the hub may be the same diameter as well.

I hadnt thought of the angle of the much bigger rear hub.  Thanks for that!!  I will suggestion he go with the stock size unless he's adimat about having an 18" front rim. Thanks for the extra info!!

The outside diameter of the front and rear tire are almost the same even though the rim diameters are different. Check that and you will what I mean.

Rim Diam Inches + [ (2 x Aspect Ratio x Section Width) / 25.4]=Tire OD on the rim.
