Electrical Help
« on: July 24, 2006, 07:15:51 AM »
My 73 CB750 has a problem, I went to start the bike up after about 2 weeks of rain here in Ohio. The starter turned over and all of a sudden nothing. No lights, horn or anything. I checked the fuses and I did have one burnt out the one on the bottom. I replaced it with one from the other 2 and still nothing. Does fuses need to be in all 3 or are 2 of them just holders? What size fuses do I need to have or do I have another problem? Note I am a rookie at this bike stuff.

You have 3 fuses. Headlight; 7A, tail light; 5A , Main; 15A.
The head and tail light fuses are sourced power from the main fuse.
Without a good main fuse installed, there will be no power distribution.

Look at the end caps of the fuses.  Scribed there are numbers indicating fuse rating.

Check out the thread in this forum "WTF fusebox melted", to reduce problems in this area.

Cheers,

Actually, on the '73 750 the tail light fuse is specified as a 5 Amp... :)

(The didn't change it to 7 Amp until a few years later)

The spare fuses are in a rubber holder inside the fuse box cover.
