If it works, it works, that's all you need
I'm not a tool snob, $200.00 + meter has longer service life and doesn't break when you drop it but provides the same function.
It's only when you get to the $1000,s you get more accurate read out (which isn't needed for comparisons)
Even if you use the meter specified in service manual you'll still only get within +/- 10% (and good luck finding NOS 1970's multi-meter)
Get a $5.00 meter and buy a new one instead of changing battery
