Any FJ40 owners out there ?
« on: April 17, 2013, 12:41:04 PM »
Always wanted one.  Finally going to get one.

So far, I'm lookin for (I think)  something after 75 so I can get the larger displacement-built-like-a-brick-sh!t-house 2F inline 6 motor.

Ideally, I'd like power steering, front power disc brakes and AC.  (I am in Texas afterall)      I'd also like the hard top and the stock wheels

as I'm going to try to keep it close to stock - might put a small lift (2-3" max) to run a little bit larger tire, but not too much bigger.

Any words of wisdom ?
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

Back before I got married and had kids, I rode a motorcycle for transportation and had a 72 FJ40 for when the weather was really crappy.  I still kick myself for selling it.

Specter Off-Road is the place for parts and accessories. They also have an excellent catalog that is full of tips and information.  Order a catalog from them and you will learn a lot about the FJ40.

I wouldn't sweat the AC. If you can find a clean rust free one there's plenty of company's with bolt on air conditioner kits.....vintage air for example
