CB400f Dyna S ignition advance
« on: April 28, 2013, 09:26:58 AM »
I've put a Dyna S in my CB400f and timed it as much as I could running. It runs fine, but I'm just a bit worried as I've rotated the plate all the way clockwise as much as possible and the timing mark is just a smidgen short of 'F' at 1200rpm and doesn't quite get in between the full advance marks at 2500rpm. It seems to run fine at high and low speeds, but I'm wondering if there's something that should be done to the advance mechanism. Any ideas?

Check the installation istructions.  I believe it will say to time the Dyna-S at full advance.

I think the Dyna S plate/module(s)  rotation for the CB400F is .....  Clockwise=Retard.

Does the dynamic/strobe full advance timing (at revs), look like this....

  (a)        V            or this,       (b)   V
               * ll                                ll *

if (a), rotate plate anti-clockwise to correct, if (b) and the plate is rotated fully clockwise, you still have a problem, and should re-do the installation/timing set-up, per the Dyna instructions.
