What's the best ones to get for the cb750 I'm looking for the Allen head ones. I'm changing everything over to stainless steel nuts and bolts on my chopper. And the engine is the last thing I've done so now I'm ready. I was wondering what's the best set to use if any ody has feedback on it thanks.

Correct, you do not want copper next to the aluminum.

There are two different types of anti-seize, you should not use the one with the copper additive for stainless and aluminum.  For instance you would NOT want to use this http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-80078-Anti-Seize-Lubricant-Bottle/dp/B000AAJTXY

What one would you use for the stock bolts?

Not the Copper!  I don't remember the whole metallurgy issue, the biggest problem is with the stainless bolts, they tend to seize easily in aluminium unless you use the anti-seize.

I use anti-seize on the long seat bolts for my GL1800 Goldwing, steel bolts into aluminium.

Why is it really that important to use copper anti seize and not something else?

When stainless steel is fastened ‘dry’ into Aluminium, galvanic corrosion can occur as the result of two different materials at opposite ends of the ‘metal nobility’ table being interfaced. In practical terms this means that alloy crankcases can oxidise around the fastener area very quickly. Copper based anti seize provides a third metal as the ‘sandwich’ and, as copper is placed in the centre of the ‘metal nobility’ table, it prevents Galvanic corrosion. Ordinary grease or oil will not work as they do not contain the vital element. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use Aluminium grease of any sort - including aerosols - as it will probably seriously damage the castings.

Jamesb. I don't know if this would be of interest to you but......I went to the parts fiche for my bike and wrote down all the bolt sizes I was interested in and whether I wanted regular bolts or allen-head. Then I ordered everything from here:

A bit cheaper than the bike suppliers. Also, you can get a bag of ss washers pretty cheap there.

looking at the website the permatex stuff is a mix of copper, aluminum, and graphite. So did I #$%* up or what?

I did read this awhile back now I don't know what is correct More research needed. I have always used the silver stuff and never look at the label.

Honestly the issue of copper based anti-seize comes up primarily as it relates to stainless screws, bolts, etc, not the stock bolts.  It seems typical to use a copper based anti-seize in aluminum heads for spark plugs, so I think the copper based stuff is fine for stock fasteners.  The issue is more to do with copper based anti-seizes and the use of stainless fasteners.

Thank you guys for all the info and links I'm going to make my move next week and start getting my stainless steel nuts and bolts. I've replaced all of them on the bike the engine is the only thing left. I would like to find SS clamps for the carb boots. I have to have my sissy bar custom made to fit this bike I'm having it done in SS also.
