Fork tubes for a 78 750f swap?
« on: August 13, 2013, 08:47:00 AM »
I just picked up a 78 CB750f that looks like it has sat outside for a long time.  What I would like to know is if the fork tubes can be swapped with any other years and models.  The ones on the bike are in bad shape and I would like to replace them.  Anyone in Ohio have a set they would like to trade or sell ?

All CB750 forks WILL fit BUT!! If you don't stay 77/78 F model then you won't have DUAL DISC...
If you are not worried about staying stock, you can install 75/76 GL1000 Goldwing  front end (COMPLETE) Trip trees/forks/wheel/brakes. The GL forks is about 2 inches wider and have larger tubes.

So can I swap my 78 750f tubes with 75 or 76 k tubes?  I have a longer set of forks if someone wanted to build a bobber  that I would trade.

The following models all share the same fork tube part number (51410-393-003) as your 1978 750F:

CB750A  (76) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750A-7000001 TO CB750A-7007331
CB750A  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750A-7100001 TO CB750A-7110560
CB750A  (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750A-7200001
CB750F  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750F-2100011 TO CB750F-2111489
CB750F  (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750F-2200001
CB750K  (77) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2700009 TO CB750-2729534
CB750K  (78) MOTORCYCLE, JPN, VIN# CB750-2800001

This torque chart should come in handy for reassembly:
