My left side controls are shot--I've tried spraying it out and lubing it, and working the indicator controls over and over, but i can't get the indicators to blink unless I hold the button in the halfway-to-the-end position. Also, my clutch-perch broke off the controls, so I'm replacing the left-side control unit.
I got an aftermarket unit that looks pretty straight forward. However, when I look at the branch of the harness that comes out of the headlight bucket and goes to the stock left-side control unit, I see between 9-12 wires. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me which colors control which functions? That's a lot of wires for 4 or 5 functions. I'm not looking at the aftermarket unit right now (at work), but there are about half as many wires as the stock unit. Some of these are surely for the clutch kill, but still, there are a lot of wires in that thing. Interestingly, there are at least 4, and possibly as many as 6 wires that connect just to the internal slider for the indicators. Why so many?
It sure would make it a hell of a lot easier to install the new unit if I knew the color scheme.
I hope someone can help. Thanks.
