Topic: 1978 CB550K Seat Compatibility?

Hi all,

Got a tear in my seat and wonder if one from another year/model would be a direct swap?
Sorry if this has already been covered, a gazillion times.  I couldn't find any info through my searches.

Hi Rick, the 1978 seat was shaped differently than the earlier model years (it has a step between the front and rear, unlike most which were 'flat') however I believe the pan, hinges, and latch are interchangeable, so another year seat should fit without issue.

I guess the only way to go with original looks is either buy a used one or find a dog upholstered.

If the foam and pan are in good shape why not buy a new seat cover? Its easy to swap over especially if the foam doesn't need to be replaced.

 They'll fit, but don't look quite right. The '77-78 seats are a direct interchange.

 '78 with a pre- '77/78 seat.





 And a '77 seat on a '78.
