airbags on your head vs. helmets?

I don't think versions for motorcycles are far behind.. especially if this thing turns out to be a success with bicycles.

Would this work with motorycles? This would make for some interesting discussion.

I don't think it could replace a helmet on a motorcycle, certainly a help though.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I could see an airbag integrated into a traditional style helmet possibly becoming a successful item, but not as a replacement for a helmet.  Airbags are only good for the initial impact, and when you come off a motorcycle in a high speed crash, sliding, rolling and bouncing around on the ground or into other objects, your head needs protection from more than just the initial hit.

I could see someone hitting the ground face first, having the airbag go off and break their neck.... :o   I already have an airbag, she does the cooking.... 8) {hot air bag}   ;)

Funny that this just came up... I was just in Paris and at a kids science/technology museum, they had one of these on display.  Looked interesting.  I do think it would be good for the bicyclist that gets bumped by a cager and would knock their head off the car or pavement once or twice.  Like Gordon said, not so much for a motorcyclist that hits a patch of gravel in a sweeper at 60mph and goes tumbling.  Plus, if sliding, I wonder if the airbag wouldn't get abraded right through.  Don't know what the material was.

Among lots of other tech materials in the display, they had riding pants that have the Kevlar woven in - most motorcycle accidents involve road rash to some degree.  That's what scares me...

Ride safe!

I saw something like that a while ago when this subject was first discussed, i think the whole idea was for the bag to be around the back of the neck so that when it went off it stopped your head being thrown around , sort of like an air collar...
