holy crap, i have a new bike
« on: July 26, 2006, 06:32:35 AM »
so after rebuilding the carbs, putting them on the bike, trying to sync, seeing no pressure,  pulling them back off, realizing that the cutaways on the slides were on the downstream side--which i don't know how that happened as they're keyed and i disassembled/reassembled them one at a time....maybe they were in backwards to begin with?  who knows, i don't really know the history of them--swapping the slides on each bank, reassembling, replacing them and finally synching them properly.....

this bike fscking screams!!!!

oh my god it's like it's brand new!!!!

i'm calling it done.
except for the tires i need to have mounted....
and checking the clutch. and the fork oil.  and new springs, and handlebars....
and replacing the cam chain, full valve job, cleaning the heads....
and a paint job........

i'd love to, but i think tomorrow the wheels have to come off so i can get the new tires mounted.  gotta have that done in time to get them scrubbed in before the "caseville run" next weekend.....

i did ride it in today, ignoring the weather forcast.... the gods are smiling on my job enough to hold off the storms for a while.

i already bought them, and i don't know how i feel about them.  my main concern was keeping the sizes/geometry the same and all i could find in 18/3.5 rear were off brands.  i went with Duros which seem sticky enough.

screw it, if i get a season or so i'm happy.  we'll see once they're on.

I got Duros on mine. They felt kinda funky at first - probably because they are a little bigger than stock but after a while I guess they got scrubbed enough and I gained confidence in them- I love 'em now.

Do yourself a favour and get the headerwrap on Ebay.
You can get 50feet for around $20bucks, where if you pick it up from a shop, you pay almost double for the same amount...
