Help Identify Shocks

Hey guys. I picked up these shocks used for $15 and I was wondering if anyone could help identify them for me. There arent any visible markings from what I can see...



I really just wanna know if these are going to be any better than the rusty/ugly stockers I have now.

They look like stock ones with the top cover removed and springs painted

yep, later cb's came with the cover gone stock

I bought mine from cycleX (generic aftermarket). these are the "shorty" version...

Mine measure to stock length. From what I read, the stock shocks couldn't be rebuilt. Wouldn't that mean that they couldn't have been dissabled for painting?

Is there a split on the top? I disassembled mine to soak the parts separately and they did disassemble springs could be changed or painted while they were out. My chrome was too pitted.

you can dis-assemble. Cant really rebuild the dampener portion. Make sence? Also agree. those are stock shocks. At least you didnt spend much.

Yeah. I was picking up a brake caliper that I needed and I figured I'd gamble on em. Plus side it they're nicer looking than what I have now. I guess they'll do for a while.

Some early Goldwings used that type shock but longer 13" eye to clevis.  If you do take them apart to repaint , check the plunger action on the shock, if it moves in and out EASILY then the absorbing part of the shock is gone and you'll just be bouncing on the springs.
