need an oil flow/pressure refresher
« on: May 13, 2013, 11:05:35 AM »
been too long since i have seen my 750 run, have forgotten a couple things.  when idling how much oil should be visible in top end with valve caps off?  what should oil flow thru the tank look like?  i fired her for the first time on this new F3 motor today, have bubbles in the tank, oil level rose slightly, continued to bubble a bit.  eventually got wee bit of steam out of the tank opening.  on the upper end, it looks like its getting oil, but i forget how much should be up there.  no oil pressure guage, its out of budget reach at moment, but the motor sounded real healthy with no noise.  I only ran about 1/2 float bowl of fuel, just enuff to notice all 4 firing, and my dyna dead on.  no noise from top end, no discoloration i can see.  please advise, if i have to pull motor out again, need to know now.

good news...have oil flow.  brother in law gave me a bore scope and we held it up to cap opening and watched oil splash on rocker shafts like its supposed to.  so happy motor doesnt have to come out.
