Wiring harness interchange-ability?
« on: May 07, 2013, 05:08:11 PM »
Hello everyone, first post here. I just bought a 78' 550 and it needs a main harness. I've been looking through here and reading, but want to be absolutly sure before I buy one that any main harness from 74'- 79' for a CB550 should work correct?

There will only be very slight differences, if any.  I am not knowledgeable enough on the 550's to tell you for sure.  Wiring diagrams for both year's can be obtained and compared.
If it works good, it looks good...

There are differences but if you understand electrickery and can use a multimeter you should be OK-----one difference is the place and type of handlebar switch connection

Good to know, thank you. I've seen a few 78' harness's on the ol eBay but they happened to be a few bucks more than some of the other years. Probably worth the extra $10 to get the right one.
