The Hawk Gt
« on: May 07, 2013, 09:32:28 PM »
you know,Honda. Say no more.  in my opinion ,one of the greatest . Absolutely. I only have 2 bikes. My Baby, the 73 cb750 and The Hawk. Sure I picked it up last fall, here in town, and I jumped. You see, I sold my old Hawk gt back in 05( as I smack myself over the head because it had everything you would want to do to a Hawk, two bro's exhaust,Wiseco , fox shock, cb600 front end , Corbin seat. Sweet. But an ex race bike, so......you get the picture. This 'new' one is not that. It is a Hawk that needs love. A better exhaust and a K&N air Filter. Crap.I gotta finish this soon...

sorry about that.My battery died. As I was saying; The hawk is so sweet , she handles like no other bike I have ever ridden. If you have the means, try one. You'll see. But then i get on my Cb, and its just rock solid. I commute , and On the freeway she is just so comfy cruising at 5000 rpm 's in 5th, then get those RPM's up and its a solid kick in the pants. the hawk on the other hand is so completely different, torquey and linear smooth. But not fast, these 650's put out about 46-48 hp stock i think , but it doesnt matter. Its no wonder these are all made into track bikes. Pffft, take your SV, I'll take the Hawk.

Sure the SV is higher Hp and all, but the hawk was way ahead of its time. Its too bad it didnt catch on when they came out. I get on the hawk and its a good 130 lb difference, so, power to weight ratio, not bad for 89.

I had a Hawk GT and you are right it is a good bike.   But the SV650S I had which had the tube type frame is a better bike.  I wish I still had the SV, but as you know another bike always beckons.

BTW, I had a 96 Ducati SS CR and my SV was a better, more comfortable bike with a Corbin seat,  Race-Tech emulators and a Fox shock in the back.

Do you need another Hawk?   I  have a friend has my old one for sale.
