Probably a no brainer, but anyway.......
« on: July 28, 2006, 10:05:17 PM »
I decided to get a new front brake fluid reservoir to replace the existing one which looks like hell (all crazed and dried-out looking). Felt pretty pleased that Honda actually still stocks said piece of plastic, and the local dealer got it inside two days ($31cdn).

However when I took it out to the bike the new one didn't look anything like the one on the bike. Bottom line: at some point a PO has replaced the entire front brake unit with one from another (unknown) bike and muggins here did not think to check that all of the bits and pieces on the bike are original. One of the joys of being the latest owner of a 27 year old bike, I guess.

So its off to eBay I go to try and find an original unit.

....and as luck would have it there were 3 up for grabs on eBay there and then. Got a new (to me) master cylinder and caliper, with new brake pads, for $50, including postage. I'm happy.

What did they look like?   The 82 and newer where diff but look like they would bolt right on.

They look identical to the ones in the workshop manual for my bike, with the rectangular, white plastic reservoir and black finish to the master cylinder housing and brake caliper. The lid of the reservoir is held on with four screws, one at each corner.
