You'd use the same heat range plugs.  If you use 5 ohm coils use the stock gap.  3 ohm coils can use an increased gap.  Increase by about 0.005 inch.

Iridiums are very nice but expensive.

#$%* they are :o I've not got a race engine so I'm going for stock plugs  NGK DR8ESL with a bigger gap or should I use another temp plug 3Ω Dyna coil?.......cheers

I got NGK iridiums for about $8 each.  That's $32 for 4, so it's up to you if it's worth the money.  They are cheaper than Denso iridiums.  Would I buy them again?  Probably not.  I would probably go for platinums since they are usually about $2 each and not much more than standard plugs.  I use them in all my cars.  I'm not sure if they are available for our old bikes.  The NGK website only shows standard and iridium.

The DR8ESL should be fine. If you have resistor caps, use the D8ESL instead.
Or, use the Denso X24ES-U, if you can find them.

I used the following plugs on my K2 over the years (resistor caps) under all sorts of conditions:

Cold weather/short-haul/strictly city riding: D7ES, X22ES-U
Mixed hiway/city, summertime driving: D8ES-L, X24ES-U.
Long-distance touring: D8ES, X24ES.
Racing: D9ES, (no longer available, D10ES often too cold), X27ES-U.

I am just venturing into the Dyna III myself. The higher voltage and wider plug gaps should help keep the plugs cleaner longer and idle better. Hopefully, better enough to allow a little richer mixture, which increases midrange torque considerably on the CB750.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

If people stepped into the 90's and got digital ignitions you'd see what I mean (with Iridiums). ;)

They're about £13 each in the UK, standard are about £3 :o

yeah - i got the solid copper wires that Jeff recommended to me (jeff from z1)

the best thing about buying these wires is the connection to the coils - they are literally made for each other with a special clip and waterproofing boot that is very secure and goes together with a satisfying sucking click sound - no need for messy silicon sealer and all that hassle.

i'm using the NGK D8ES which is what i had on before

i do not believe that these have resistor caps...

A Dyna 2000 is digital. The ignition maps are handled electronically....no mechanical advance with their inherit limitations. I sent samcr750 a set of Iridium's for short money...even with postage. He says they work great in their drag CR.

The iridium is a high end plug. It has a smaller center electrode and has many other improvements over standard plugs and even platinum plugs, not to mention long life. On a stock bike, they can even take advantage of your weak coil ignition as they are more efficient at making a spark. they also have allowed racers to increase their CR and rpms on their race engines. There are things all over the net about them. Aside from cost, I dont know if they really have any current short comings.

Hondaman, I cant run slightly rich, makes my midrange bog out. Course I run a K8 and have an accel pump. that is probably where the difference comes in.

With Dyna coils and wires, is the NGK Iridium DR8EIX the right plug?

I have Dyna coils/ignition and Accel graphite wires and I use DPR8EIX-9, which must be the same thing.

I don't recall the reason, but I have it in the back of my head those spark plugs did not come with the nipples on top, yet that was what the Accel connectors called for. It's been a while, but to be safe, check. I had to chase them down separately, but my memory is crappy.

I'm using the copper wires do your graphite wires have resistance plug caps?

So your plug caps are non resistance type? I'm guessing those plugs are given the DR in the # of the plug is that correct.
I'm using the copper core wire but the information on the plug cap so I cant order the plugs in advance it's not a problem when they arrive I'll measure the resistance and get the plugs required...cheers
