After three months i took my first ride today.
« on: May 09, 2013, 02:38:42 PM »
Three months ago I woke up one morning and said I was gonna buy a motorcycle.  So on a whim I purchased a 77 CB550k from my cousin.  I knew nothing about motorcycles or hell any kind of mechanic work.  Went and bought a tool set from wallmart.  Everytime I worked on it I would get so frustrated to the point of calling a institution.  Well today made all that seem trivial.  I rode a motorcycle for the first time. And not only that I rode a motorcycle I brought to life for the first time.  It still has some issues thought so I'm not out the weeds yet.  It stalls in first gear unless I keep it reved up high.  The tach doesn't work so I don't know what I'm idling at but I'm sure its high.  Needs paint and the seat needs to be recovered.  But at least I can feel the wind blow threw my hair instead of just dreaming about it.

I know the feeling I did the same thing with my 750. Ive restored cars but had never ridden a motorcycle before my bike. It is great, enjoy

Welcome. And in future, don't call the institution - just visit this site. We all have the same mental issues...

Congrats! You now know what it is like to ride YOUR bike, not one you bought off the showroom floor.
