Topic: handle grips too tight

I have a new set of grips and the left hand one as you would expect slides on perfectly but the right being slightly wider with the throttle slide will not go on at all!
I've tried the old boiling water to no avail, they are rather nice grips from England at 27 pounds so I'm trying not to wreck them.
Any ideas you braniacs?

Gady Rick, where you been hiding mate..?   I use hair spray on the inside of the grips , it helps them slide on and sticks like sh1t to a blanket once it dries. Try some soap for a test run and see if it is going to go on first, if it does, then wash well and use the hairspray {on the grip}

2 wraps of electrical tape on throttle tube or bars. Petrol in the grip, slide it in fast. Wire them.

By far the best method I've found for Enduro competition where grips get wet and spin. Never had an issue with this method and they are easy to remove afterwards.

gday hush,long time no nothing?any chance you got two lefties?ive always just used my personal spit,would you like me to send you some?even just water and they should slide on,i rode dirt/enduro aswell for years and never had to use anymore than that,they then come off easy with compressed air directed under them and they float of.

Hush when I was fixing bikes for real I used Gas all the time and only had one failure and the grip that failed when I looked was to big from the start. Now this is from 30-35-40 years ago so grip formulation may have changed but back then gas was the best.

Dave 500 as per usual you are on the money, my son fitted the left one (which should have been the right one) and couldn't understand why I was having so much difficulty with mine. As he fitted it while I was at work it never occured to me to check the left grip.
Sorry for wasting your time, but I have to say this is still the most user friendly forum ever.
Oh yeah I just sold my S83 as even though the 1400 Suzi was a powerful bike (I got the traffic tickets to prove it) the handling was crap, it sat up on every corner and made me look like a real dick when group riding. Had a pillion seat like a block of wood, I've had 500 Kwakas more comfortable
Needed something for my partner (Jaffa) to be happy on the back for a few hundred miles a day.
Traded it on a 2008 Suzi C90T, arrives on the carrier this Friday, can't wait, oh yeah and of course the day it arrives so does winter in a big way.

im glad you got a grip on things hush,so it was the left and right grip reversed?just switch the handle bars over end for end,you do it the hard way man!

haha yeah my suggestion was going to be "patch weld a smaller handlebar end on the right side."

I am having the opposite problem - how to get the left grip off? Any clever ideas?

^^ someone said compressed air works well.

i personally just squeeze in the WD40 straw, give it a little lube, and start twisting back and forth -- it'll spin right off after a moment.

+1 on compressed air, I works great getting new ones on as well as taking off old ones.
