30c+ here, serious bushfires, property loss....middle of May..... ???
But funny how they say "hottest May day since 1924"......mmmm, so it happened back then too, so were they talking global warming back then?? I don't think so, just freaky nature doing it's thing...it happens.

The big bushfire in the hills atm was caused by a clown burning off - the 'bushfire season' officially ended (by date) and so the idiots see that as a green light to set their fires.....with no regard to the actual weather conditions on the day.  >:(

Peter.

Yes Peter but 10 of the last 11 years have been the hottest on record, And this year had the highest average temps ever recorded here, not to mention the massive amounts of rain we are getting in the north, we've broken every record we have for rainfall,  in the last couple of years... I read recently that there will be no summer ice in the Arctic in the next 10 years, its melting that fast, 10 times faster than usual...

So much for global warming!

....

Quote
It might seem counterintuitive to link Arctic sea ice that disappears in the summer to a colder winter in the northeastern U.S. and Europe, but scientists have reason to believe the connection is real and will make itself felt this upcoming season.

Less sea ice in summer means the Arctic Ocean warms more. It radiates much of that excess heat back to the atmosphere in winter. That release disrupts typical atmospheric conditions, thereby affecting how the jet stream behaves. The net result is a greater chance for unusually cold winters, or at times unusually warm ones, in the northeastern U.S. and Europe

They say the world is millions and millions of years old.   They have only kept written records for a little over 200 years.    Not really enough time to start crying that the sky is falling.

If it's cold it is climate change, if it is hot it is global warming!  Make up your F'n minds!

What caused the ice age to end?   Were there any cars then? Manufacturing? fluorocarbons?

If pollution is causing "global warming" or "climate change", then why does our illustrious government allow trade with China and India and  all the other garbage dumping countries? They are the largest polluters on the planet!

Sorry about the venting, but I am so sick of talking heads and all the sheeple that swallow all this crap, hook, line and sinker.

Wrong again, if its colder than normal for extended periods of time its climate change, if its hotter than normal for extended periods of time {years} then its climate change....
The Earth is somewhere around 450 Billion years old , Times are changing, China is also the largest user of renewable energy and the largest manufacturer of solar panels on the planet, they are also leading the world in regrowth of area's devastated by 1000's of years of repeated farming. Its seems you know little of this at all.

Part of one of TODAY'S news stories regarding the Arctic ice shelf....

Quote
The icy Arctic is emerging as a global economic hot spot - and one that is becoming a security concern for the US.

Increasingly, world powers jockey to tap its vast energy resources and stake out unclaimed territories.

Diplomats from eight Arctic nations, including US Secretary of State John Kerry, will meet next week over how to protect the thawing region as its waterways open to commercial shipping traffic. US officials estimate the Arctic holds 13 per cent of the world's undiscovered oil reserves and 30 per cent of undiscovered gas deposits.

The last real Scientific climate change denier Professor Richard Muller recently went on a tour of the most effected area's on earth to prove the science wrong, After doing his own comprehensive study , came back totally convinced that the science has it right, so the deniers have no one left to listen to but themselves...   You do realize that in Antarctica the ice sheets are so thick that they hold climate records going back millions of years right..?   To think that we can only track the weather back 200 years is a simplistic joke...
It is going to effect the Northern Hemisphere more than the Southern early on as the biggest ice melts are already happening there, Greenland, Iceland and Antarctica, shifts in cold air and cold water will have effects on the jet stream which will directly effect the Northern Nations, with Extremes of both Cold and Warm weather and worsening weather events.....  There has been millions of hours of research put into this , its proven science and it is speeding up.   You are also a little naive mate, your country does business with those countries because of MONEY, nothing else, and while big business dictates government policy , thats the way it will stay.... The earth has gone through many periods of warming, even more than now, but with far less human population and had devastating effects on the flora and fauna, Volcanic activity was almost solely responsible for the methane, sulfur, Co and Co2 pumped into the environment, like i said earlier, all these chemicals and gases are stored in polar ice shelves dating back millions of years, its also not hard to look up if you are at all interested, which i doubt you are at all....  Oh , and by the way, Australia broke 123 weather records in the last year,

Quote
It was Australia’s hottest summer ever, both in terms of nationwide average temperatures and of maximums reached at individual sites. Heatwaves of record intensity and duration fuelled bushfires that raged in every state and territory.

Rainfall and flood records were also smashed, with tornadoes and tropical cyclones aggravating the meteorological havoc.

Once we barely ever heard of tornado's down here, they are becoming common in just the last couple of years..... You can argue all you like about what you "think" but climate is changing and we are helping it, at no time in any form of recorded climate information covering millions of years has it happened so fast....

Oklahoma had freeze warnings and 80 degree weather in the first week of may. Records broken for April cold a week earlier.

I like it cool. The longer we have to wait for the 100-110 degree days the better.

I am over 60 years old and yes you have heard the stories, "when I went to school I walk up hill for 10 miles in knee deep snow.....", well this one is true and will make you go hmmmmmmm.  When I was around 12 I would play outside all summer in shorts without a tee shirt and without sunscreen, try that today on a sunny day.  Ever notice recently when the weatherman predicts a temperature high, if its sunny the temperature is surpassed easily?  It's because the protective ozone layer in the earth's atmosphere has thinned and the sun's rays are not being reflected or filtered as they used to be some 40 to 50 years ago.  I am not going to try to predict what has caused the layer to thin but it has and the affects are becoming obvious to the average person, the changes will continue to become more and more drastic and extreme.  I am getting tired of people sticking their head in the sand saying all this worry is bullsheet, keep this attitude up and the earth will be a planet full of deep fried arrseholes!  Just saying, carry on ;)

Absolutely correct, ask our New Zealand members, they are parked near the massive hole in the ozone layer near Antarctica and even though its much cooler there than in Australia, you can feel the sun eating your skin, it actually stings your face after a short exposure. I am going back to NZ in July, my first winter trip, it will be interesting to see what the sun feels like there when its a lot colder...
