I've just found this, what a cool project! I always wanted an XR750 Road Racer, and your bike should be an absolute beast. All the best mate, and keep us updated! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Thanks Terry, I am hoping to have the base gaskets at the builder today  and hopefully have the motor back in my hands by the weekend for the first time in a year. Then I can get back to this build which should keep me in a better frame of mind than I have been.

It'll all work out mate, and I can't wait to see and hear that beast once you've got it all together, make sure you post some youtube clips! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Halleluja, I'm, picking it up tomorrow. He's putting the primary gasket on and buttoning it up right now. Finally get to see what it looks like with the new paint scheme. And then the hundred little things to tie up this build and make some noise.

Everything is just mocked up right now. Clip-ons can and will come up an inch.

I recoated the pipes  and mounted up a few more things. I have to plumb the oil and fuel lines and hopefully next week I can fire this motor up. The guy making my hand held starter is dealing with kidney stones and has taken the last 3 days off work. I'm anxious to hear this thing run.

If you 2 want to cover my expenses I'll gladly bring it to Oz to fire it up the first time. Always wanted to visit there.
Right now it's 4am, I'm going to bed.

I should charge admission for anyone to see this fire the first time. I know I would pay to see that if it weren't mine.

Manthat bike has so much coolstuff on it.  Hope it runs well. Did you put an XLCRor 79 and up swingarm on that or is it custom made.

It's a 79 swing arm that has been shortened a few inches because while it is a plug and play swing arm it is longer than the early arm putting shock mounts too far back and needing a longer chain. I'm considering putting a brace on the early arm and putting it back on if this one doesn't perform well.
IJust FYI, it is not 79 and up, the 79 arm is a bastard single year arm and the only one that is plug and play on the early model frame.

I was gonna buy a Ducati 916 when I sell my Triumph Rocket III, but instead I think I'll build a "Powderman Replica"......... ;D

Good luck with that. Let me know when you find a set of Sputhe heads or motor.
Too bad you're in OZ, I might be interested in the Rocket III.

oops, just realized the Triumph Rocket III is the modern one and not the vintage BSA Rocket III/Triumph Trident

Yeah mate, mine is the new one, and it's been in the family since new, but don't let that put you off, it's just as fragile as an old Triumph/BSA, ha ha! Cheers, Terry. ;D
