How do I id stock pistons?
« on: July 30, 2006, 08:02:25 AM »
I just my engine apart and want verify that the pistons are stock (i found the bike in a lot - no history).
They measured 61mm at the skirtv - though i don't trust my measurement technique for super accuracy.
And they say HONDA on them. Which of course leads me to believe they are stock, but I want to verify if I can. Also, how do I know if I need oversize rings?
Thanks everyone!

You only put oversize rings on oversize pistons after a rebore to the correct size! You need to measure the pistons and bores acuratly to get the size.
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
