if there are beanie babies in the back window it is not a motorcycle. I repeat if there are beanie babies in the back window, you have been duped.

I assume this post is in regards to the post titled the same in the tech forum.  If so, your an #$%*.  Give the guy a break, he's got to start somewhere.

It is beyond my understanding as to why so many people on this forum feel themselves to be on a higher plane than others, especially newbies.  Even though you may have been young, Paul, you also had to start somewhere.  Sarcazim and #$%*ty attitudes are the quickest ways to turn someone from these boards.  In my opinion, the more the merrier.  So maybe next time you should just tell him his caliper is probably bad instead of blasting him behind his back.

lighten up! if you read the tech board, there are posts like this on a regular basis. i'm just poking fun at the cluelessness of some  people, not even necessarily him. i would never want to make someone feel unwelcome, and will always help in any way i can, which is why i posted this joke here. there is no such thing as a stupid question (and i've certainly been clueless plenty of times myself), but a little bit of research before posting can go a long way, like the sticky at the top of the tech board suggests.

but in any case, i still haven't got a good answer. it says "yamaha" on it, but i think it might really be a trombone, how do i tell the difference???? is there a serial number i can go by?????? ??? ??? ???

It was a little hostile but cut him some slack JP he can't help it.  He's just hostile because he's from Portland OR.  That where all the thieves live.  Just ask Borkunit.

Hey Eyoderler (or whatever)
My brothers are driving their 3 person velo/cycle from Seattle, Washington to Montreal via Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, ND etc etc
and they asked me if I would like to go with them.
Answer = no! The motors are too small on those triples. ;D
I'll stick with my Kawasaki 350/500's thank you.
peace,
michel

Paul,

i may have your answer...  You fortunately did not buy a trombone, but it is a Yamaha P.O.S. 400 special.  Make sure you check the transnonerator shift boot for dry rotting, as this may adversely affect performance at the sub zero RPM range.

brad, we have discussed this at great length and i maintain that the transnonerator shift boot will have ZERO effect on the mechanical operation of a motorcycle. it is purely aesthetic!

anyway, i really am glad i don't have a trombone.

NOW... does anyone know a good professional Honda mechanic in the area who works for free????

Yes Purely aesthetic, but, as i said earlier, in the sub-zero RPM range it plays an important factor in reducing crank flobble, as it induces transverse fibrulations through the transnonerator.  If torn or cracked (or, in my case, dry rotted as a result of the ozone absorbtion) it will not fit its mating surface (which resides in the middle carbon diaphragm) and therefore allow mediation of the temperate region in the semi-hemi power curve.  Rejetting will help you in this situation, but only until 1.75 throttle.

bowl of rice my friend, bowl of rice...
