Lower fork leaks from retaining screw
« on: May 14, 2013, 06:42:57 AM »
Looks like I misplaced the brass/copper washers, it seems to seap a bit without them. Can't find anything close locally, what other options do I have? Will a sealant do the trick?

Alloy washer or  try some sealant.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

I have found silicon clear on some of the screws I have pulled out. Must work in a pinch

I'll try some Honda bond. All the 8mm washers I found are too wide to fit. If that doesn't work I'll just have to bite the bullet and order replacement from bike bandit.

I had sealant on the bolt for the forks I just rebuilt. It sucked to pull that bolt out and I ended up having to drill the head off and purchase a new one. The bolts have a shallower head and can only take so much force to remove.

The washer is still available from Honda. Why not just order a few? Shoot add in some bolts too just to have. South Sound Honda is where it's at for cheaper OEM pricing.

Dammit too late, just used sealant. I priced out a pair of screws and 4 washers. $20 bucks plus shipping to Canada, seemed a bit steep.

That's outrageous for 2 copper washers. Check Napa out. They carry that sort of washer

Holy #$%* that's crazy. Try NAPA or something equivalent like Vin says. Where are you in Canada?

In Calgary, Alberta. There are a few napas around, I'll go check them Out.

Even if it is over sized, a drill a screw a nut and a file will down size it.

I used piece of plumbing copper tube to make a washer from before.  Drill, cut, aleanata and use, it works.
