New guy here from Austin, Texas
« on: August 01, 2006, 08:03:48 PM »
Looking forward to learning more about my bikes and getting to know some fellow enthusiasts of the SOHC FOUR. I'm in Austin, TX and I have quite a few (6) of these bikes. I've been lurking around the forum for a couple of years and decided to join. I'm looking for people in my area to ride and wrench. I'm a union sheet metal worker and work in a specialty sheet metal shop. I'm doing some diffrent things and look forward to showing you the mods to my bikes as they progress.

welcome to the boards - no introduction is complete until you include your ride...

Allright, another Texan!  Lived in Austin for about ten years.  Have a dip in Barton Springs for me, it's damn hot here in Denver and there's not a single good swimmin hole!! >:(

Craigslist is pretty active in Austin.  I bet if you put a couple of postings on there looking for other classic bike riders you could get a decent size group together.

Welcome.

I grew up down the road in Elgin and went to school at UT.  Still have lots of family in the area.

I'm a whore to the oil and gas industry, so I'm stuck working and living in Houston now.

I miss the hell out of Austin and the Hill Country.  Springtime up there is heaven for me...used to love riding up around the lake for dinner at the Oasis.  Did they ever re-open after the fire?

The pic in my avatar is a 72 CB500 and my daily rider. I will post more pics but cant seem to make them smaller. I have two runners and the others are parts bikes but I have titles for everything. Here is a list three CB750's, Two CB500's, 1 CB550 and one CB400. Anybody got any ideas on the smaller picture thing?

What kind of image editing software do you have? Also, there are some free applications for compressing images.

You can download a program called Irfanview for free that will allow you to resize your pictures.  Just google it.

if you're using pc/linux download picasa from google.  it's free and probably the best software available for non-photoshppers.  if you just need to touch up/crop/resize/organize nothing beats it.

I second the recommendation for Picasa. It is quite good, and at the price, it's great. I was impressed.

Welcome, and maybe you can share some metal working tips with us.
