My friend has a pair of rear shocks off a 83 or 84 Honda Shadow 750 parts bike, and they look like they would fit on my 550. Is putting them on my bike a completely stupid idea? I've put more money than I wanted to into my bike recently and I don't have any problem with the stock set, so I'm not looking to buy aftermarket. I just think it might be something cool to do to customize the bike a bit.
I would think the Shadow being heavier would mean stiffer suspension, and putting that on a 550 would equal a sportier ride. Is there anything else I should be considering? I don't want to mess up the handling by doing this.
