'73 Spokes
« on: May 17, 2013, 07:25:41 AM »
Hey guys, I pretty sure this has been asked before but don't have the time to search through tons of posts...I am redoing my wheels...are the spokes from that area of bike stainless or are they plain steel? I buffed down one spoke and it looks great but if they are just going to rust I don't want to waist my time...

Just plain steel.  Spray with wd-40 may slow the rust or a clear paint.

Not sure Steve-O went with a set from Tawain and that seems to worked for him.  Quality and good price do not go together.  Buchann is the place for stainless, but ohters have BMGd about having to drill out rim. From what I gather there is quite a bit of work for a frist timmer lace and true.  Comes with the turf.

I am sure someone will be along to give better answer.  I would trying googling as this question has been asked many time.  Should not take long to find a quality thread.

With basic maintenance there is no reason rust should be an issue with regular spokes. Just clean your wheels now and then and use some chrome polish on the spokes to give them some protection.
