Seats and locks
« on: January 28, 2014, 11:16:42 PM »
I have a K1 engine and frame but the seat on the bike seems to be K2 with the locking latch. Can some confirm that this in fact wrong and if I can retrofit a K0/1 seat and latch.  I fear the bike is a bitsa but definitely CB750 1xxxxxxx frame and motor.

While I'm asking can some also confirm what the tachometer redline should be on a 1971 K1?

Paul

I don't have a K2 to compare it to but I do have a K4 as my next project. The holes in the frame seem to be positioned in the same spots and look identical. Hopefully someone else will chime in and confirm.

Paul,

I think you are refering to the 'square' latch. My bike actually had one of those, even though its a K2. I ended up putting a round latch on it just to make sure my seat was going to marry to it properly, but in saying that, i think it will work with both types. As MiniMo has mentioned, i beleive the mounting points are the same.

As everyone else has said, 8000 grand.

Many thanks guys.

Seat mounting holes for latch looked at different centres on a couple of seats I've looked at?

And also hinges. Maybe if I could get a couple of picks to compare?

Thanks again particularly with tacho.

Paul
